Swami Sivananda Saraswati served as a medical doctor before being initiated into sannyasa in 1924.  He founded the Divine LIfe Society at Rishikesh, the Sivananda Eye Hospital, and other institutions and wrote over 200 books.  He inspired countless disciples who spread yoga throughout the world, including Swami Satchidananda (founder of Yogaville in the USA) and Swami Sivananda Radha (founder of Yasodhara Ashram in Canada). 



Paramahamsa Satyananda Saraswati was born in Uttar Pradesh, India, in 1923.  His guru, Swami Sivananda, inspired many of the great teachers of the last century who spread yoga around the world.  Swami Satyananda dedicated his life to his guru's mandate of serve, love and give.  He founded the International Yoga Fellowship in 1963, the Bihar School of Yoga in 1964, and Sivananda Math in 1987.  He toured internationally and authored more than 80 books.   In December of 2009, Swami Satyananda attained mahasamadhi.


 

 

 

Paramahamsa Niranjanananda Saraswati  joined the Bihar School of Yoga at age 4.  He was initiated into sannyasa at age 10 and soon after, in 1971, he began travelling and lecturing throughout the world.  In 1983, he was named as President of the Bihar School of Yoga.  The designated successor of Paramahamsa Satyananda, Paramahamsa Niranjanananda has authored numerous books and still lectures internationally.

Swami Satyasangananda Saraswati was born in 1953.  She travelled extensively with Paramahamsa Satyananda in India and overseas.  She is pithadhiswari of Rikhiapeeth and guides the activities of Sivananda Math in Rikhia, working tirelessly to improve the lives of the residents of the area.
