As a yoga instructor…

  • Do you have students who have survived an accident, had surgery, or who live with an illness?

  • Are any of your students veterans, caregivers, inmates, refugees, or from a minority group?

  • Do you have women in your Yoga classes?

  • Have you or your students lived through a pandemic?!

If you answer “yes” to any of the above, this workshop is for you.

The truth is that trauma is a part of life.

That means that 99% of your Yoga students will have experienced a traumatic event. However, not all of them will be traumatized by it. And many of those who are traumatized will not even know that they are. When they come to Yoga they are often amazed by what they experience through it.

Why is that?
How does that happen?

Given how universal trauma is, as Yoga instructors, what do we need to be aware of? What is our role?

In this 6-part workshop you’ll learn about the basics of trauma, including what it is and is not, and how it affects our body, brain & behaviour. You’ll also begin to understand how & why Yogic practices & a Yoga classroom can help to manage and support healing the effects of trauma.

You’ll come out this workshop series able to make more informed decisions about how to make your classroom set-up & practices more supportive & transformative for yourself & all of your students.

This workshop series is designed to be informative & interactive. It draws on contemporary research & therapeutic approaches to trauma as well as on the Yogic sciences. Be prepared for a combination of theory, discussion & simple homework that will help you immediately apply workshop take-aways in your classroom & personal life.
